CHAPITRE 11The rhythm of the year
The Festival Calendar
When to go where
✓ Verified · 2 sources
A rough calendar: in March–April, the Dipri festival (Gomon), Paquinou (the Baoulé Easter homecoming), FEMUA, Abidjan Art Week and MASA (even years); August–October is yam-festival season; late October to early November is Abissa in Grand-Bassam; November–December brings the Dakar Biennale (Dak'Art, 19 November–19 December 2026).
Traditional festivals follow the farming calendar (the yam harvest, for example), while modern arts events are mostly held in the dry season, when they are easier to run.
